Johnson - "underground"

Zero Mountain began in 1955 in a limestone mine located in Johnson, Arkansas (Washington County). The mine called "The Cave" had 25,000 square feet of refrigerated and freezer space. Today, Johnson has grown to 280,000 square feet. Zero Mountain, Incorporated is a $50 million dollar operation that employs approximately 300 people and provides over 30 million cubic feet of control temperature storage in Fort Smith, Johnson, Lowell, and Russellville, Arkansas.

  1. From Hwy I-540, whether traveling north or south. Take exit number 67
  2. Immediately to the right take the Gregg St exit
  3. At the 4-way stop turn right
  4. Go to stop light, make another right
  5. This is Gregg St, Proceed under I-540 OVERPASS go approximately 1/4 mile and make your 1st left on Van Ache
  6. Stay on Van Asche road as curves to the right go up and over the hill
  7. At bottom of hill stay left and this is Zero Mountain entrance.
